Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) services are increasingly recognized as key to human capital formation, economic growth, and equality. However, in Italy, there is a lack of large-scale empirical research evaluating ECEC  educational outcomes and their impact on social inequalities. This project aims at bridging this gap by addressing three  main questions: what is the role of nursery attendance in development of cognitive and non-cognitive competences  and inequality reduction?; what is the extent of educational inequalities driven by gender, social class, and migratory  background in pre-primary school?; what is the influence of different kindergarten-specific organizational and  pedagogical models on these inequalities?
