EqualScope: a new research center on social inequalities launches at the University of Milan
On 14 April, the University of Milan will inaugurate the EqualScope Center – Social Inequality and Life Chances, promoted by the Department of Social and Political Sciences.

On Tuesday, 14 April 2026, in the Sala Lauree at Via Conservatorio 7, the University of Milan will officially present EqualScope, a new research center devoted to the study of social inequalities and life chances. The center aims to promote empirical and comparative research on some of the main domains in which inequalities are produced and reproduced, from education and the labour market to health, migration, and civic and political participation.

Following the institutional greetings by Roberto Pedersini, Director of the Department, the event will open with an introduction by the center’s coordinator, Moris Triventi. The programme will continue with lectures on social inequalities in Italy by Antonio Schizzerotto (University of Trento) and Marianna Filandri (University of Turin), a roundtable with representatives from institutions and the third sector, presentations of the center’s research projects, and two international lectures by Herman van de Werfhorst (EUI) and Stephanie Steinmetz (University of Lausanne).More information here: https://lastatalenews.unimi.it/equalscope-statale-nuovo-centro-ricerca-disuguaglianze-sociali
